hello my monitoring contract is about to expire, and due to teh fact that i live closer to my alarmed location than anyone else including teh police etc, i woudl like to self monitor and save the 20 a month, is it possible to do this i have a dsc security system, do i have to upgrade any part of it or add anything on? even if it just sent me a text or a phone call with eitehr recorded message or even a phone call that sounded like a modem connecting i woudl know it i steh alarm, how many calls sounding liek a modem do i receive otehrwise? thansk for your help!

First question is whose alarm is it, and do you have the installer passcode. You'll need that to reconfigure the number it dials and what it does when it dials. Some alarms have voice capability, othes just speak code, may can dial pagers. There may be a voice module for your DSC if you don't have one now.
I don't know enough about the specific DSC alarms, but you may want to post the model number and see if someone more knowledgable than me can tell you what your unit can do.
