I have a 10 HP Generac 5500 Watt Generator that has only about 10 hours run time over 2 years. I try and start it up and let it run every month or 2 just to make sure everything works okay.
I started it up about a week ago and let it run for 5-10 minutes and then turned it off and put it back in the garage. The next morning I noticed quite a bit of oil had leaked out onto the ground.
Anyone have any idea what might have happened or what to check for?
Thanks!

Can you see exactly where the oil leaked from? First check the drain plug since if it is a large amount of oil, it probably leaked from a place down low. Leakage from bearing seals (where shafts emerge) is a common problem. Loose body parts, for example the bolts holding the oil pan on starting to become undone, can also result in leakage.

You will not be able to run the generator without constant attention if oil leaks out faster than you can replenish it.
