generator voltage too high

I have a Generac 7000 EXL 12,250 watt surge generator that had no output voltage. I replaced the voltage regulator and it started working but the voltage was [160vac] . I have checked the cycles [60] and the rpm [3600] . What could cause this high voltage . Thanks for your help.

Have you checked to see if your new voltage regulator has a manual adjustment on it. If not I would start with a new replacement voltage regulator.
