My pilot light keeps going off several times a day this year. Used to only need to be cleared once, at the first of the cold season. I use an unbent paperclip to clear the corrosion or rust from the air intake nipple but I am afraid to go too deep for fear of perforating something in the housing. IS there a diagram that shows what's inside of this round thingy that the nipple and rubber hose is attached to? Should I unscrew and take that round thing off to clean inside? (Can someone give me a more intelligent sounding word than "round thingy"?) The heater is only six years old- is this covered by any kind of warranty? the inside of the heater has this white powdered stuff all over it and what appears to be water stains on the air vent or pipe that comes down from the roof. Any connection to the white powder? Is this normal? Thanks, in advance. Marlena L:party: :wavey:

Can you take a picture of it? It sounds like your pressure switch, but I just want to make sure before I give you any advice.

Please look at this picture and tell me which item your having a problem with. I think your talking about the "round thingy" under the number 1 in the picture. Am I correct?
