Hi All,
I've got enough plumbing experience to feel comfortable putting in a new sink and have already replaced the handle/valve in our bathroom with no problems. We're now to the bathroom portion of our remodel and I'm wondering if it is a good idea to try putting in a new jacuzzi tub by myself. I'm comfortable wiring most things in the house. Is this going to be an easy project or is it something best left to the pros?
Also, what special considerations should I keep in mind with a jacuzzi tub (ours will still have a shower)? It looks like the one I want is about 9 inches wider than the standard tub we have now. Will that extra size be a weight concern?

gracias

I replaced an old tub with a Jacuzzi tub in our bathroom
The drain was almost the same, I bought a drain kit that matched up fine
My tub was only 2" wider, so the tub spout stayed in the same place (not on center). I moved the valve slightly to the side, this allowed the shower head to be centered.
The 1st floor joists underneath were doubled up (looking from the basement, so I'm not worried about extra weight. Check your joists if possible. An extra 9" is quite a bit of water
My tub had a pump, and a heater
The heater required a dedicated 15a circuit
The pump only takes 7a, so I am adding it to a circuit that will include the radiant floor heat at about 5a. Each had an electrical plug for a connection
I ran each to a GFCI outlet in the basement. The heater plug (dedicated) can't reach the other outlet & vica versa
