We'd like to install a new faucet in the kitchen sink. Right now there are 4 items installed in this sink: from left to right
~ dishwasher overflow vent
~ faucet
~ water on / off valve
~ soap dispenser
The style faucet we want has the water outlet and the valve on the same post, but the base of the faucet will cover the first three holes, meaning we have to move the dishwasher overflow vent to the far right, into the soap dispenser hole (which is fine, because we don't use the soap dispenser).
The problem: the hose from the dishwasher to the overflow vent will not reach that far. As a workaround I thought I could get the extra foot or so of overflow hose and splice it onto the end of the existing hose with a piece of copper pipe and two hose clamps (assuming the copper pipe OD closely matches the overflow pipe ID). Is that a good solution, or is it smarter to get a new overflow hose that's the right length? I've never been inside a dishwasher before so I don't know how difficult this would be; at the end of the day I just want to know I did the job in the best way.
I'd appreciate your thoughts- thanks!
