I've not been on the site as regularly for a while, but it seems like the site is alot slower loading up pages than it used to be. Is it indeed slower, or is it just my computer connection or imagination?
Or is a price to pay for the advertizing pop-ups?

I haven't notice anything today as far as slowness goes at least I haven't noticed anything. The ads are drawn externally from the site, if the donations continue, they will likley be removed, I have gotten some over the last few days. As long as I can at least break even, I'm happy, which hasn't been the case for quite a while, with the exception of the last week or too when the donations have been better. I would like to be able to pay a whole year of hosting in one shot, we get a discount if it is paid yearly instead of monthly, if we were able to do that once, that over the course of the year there may be enough donations to cover the yearly cost, but it is a matter of being to do it once to start.

If you don't mind me asking, if the annual cost of site maintenance were covered 100% by donations, and assuming that 30 percent of members were to contribute how much would that break down to?

If we had 30 % of members / visitors (anyone who benefited from the sites) contributing, there would be a profit, or at least additional amounts that could be reinvested in site promotion. We would be lucky if at the best of times if 1 or 2 % of those who benefit will actually contribute.
The actual base cost of hosting...$ 19.95 a month (if there is no plan overage fees), for a year $ 19.95 x 12 = $ 239.40 US Funds. 2 Domains names are $ 8.95 each per year = $ 17.90 US Funds.
Now that is the costs that are absolutely fixed, which I would love to pay yearly in one lump sum, if we can raise that much in one shot, than I believe over the course of a year we can accomumulate enough thru donations by the time it is due again (hopefully ?)
