Does a floor drain in the center of a room have to be vented? If so, how?

If venting is required, will moving the floor drain closer to the stack help matters? (like not having to vent it at all?)

Floor drain is on a lower level floor by the way.

Thanks in advance for your time.

Locally, the allowable solution is to vent off the top of the waste line a max of 36" from the drain trap and running horizontally under slab (with slope), coming up in the nearest wall. Also required is a wall cleanout on the vent as it comes up the wall cavity. Double check with local authorities.
