Hi,
I have a DCS Classic PC1565 alarm in my home and I am not paying for the monitoring service.
The alarm was set off by my cat activating the sensor in my 'Hall' and I am now unable to re-activate the system as it gives the message 'Secure system before arming <>'.
If I push the > arrow on the keypad (when this message is displayed) it shows the message 'Alarm memory <> (*3) to view', if I push the > arrow on the keyboard again however, it shows the message 'System Open: <> Hall 2'. If i push *3 it shows the message 'View memory <> Hall 2'.
I have messed about pushing numerous keys to try to reset this but cannot.
From what I can make out... the Hall zone is open or due to the alarm memory, the system will not re-activate. I have downloaded every manual I can find including the 'Instruction' and 'Programming' guides (and of course, checked every message in the forums) but I cannot find the answer 8-(
Any help would be gratefully apreciated... many thanks in advance!!!

shut all power to the alarm system, including any battery backup for 2 to 3 minutes, see waht happens, this will clear standard memory. It would not clear flash memory, not sure which type it has. I asume there must be a clear code without shuting it down

Thanks for the VERY quick responce... I may use that as a last resourt, but I would ideally like to have a reset/clear process as I can see this happening again in the future.

Are you sure the hall sensor hasn't failed -- like it has either latched itself permanently on (open?), or it has some other problem like a tamper or a supervision loop that has opened. Perhaps the cat didn't set it off, it just broke and is still broken.

Checked and it is not a hardware fault.... we have had this happen a couple of times but managed to get British Gas to connect up and reset it (but now they are going to charge us for doing it).
I have read a few more manuals and keep seeing these:
'All tamper conditions must be physically restored
before the trouble condition will clear.'
Which there are none - The hall is just an infrared sensor which was activated.
and:
'Once a zone is tampered or faulted, it must be
completely restored before the trouble condition
will clear.'
hmmmm???

Not sure about this panel. Enter the code to turn off the alarm twice in a row and that may reset the alarm condition.

Tried the alarm code twice, but unfortunately it just tries to set the alarm which fails.
From looking up a bit more in the various manuals... I think I need to go in to the programming and then back out to clear it... which brings in the dilemma of knowing the 'Installer's code', which only British Gas/Group 4 may know as they installed it, but then again I may have got confused?!?
I have tried some codes like 1500, 1555, 5555, 1234 & 0200 all failed to work, but I have managed to not lock it which is a bonus... I suppose.
Its looking more and more like a power and battery removal to try to clear it, my only worry is that I may have to re-programme the system, which brings back in the 'Installer's code' problem again + the programming looks to complex for me 8-(
Still open to any suggestions!!

Check out the above site that hosts tons of alarm system manual that I just came across, perhaps it has one for yoru system, that may / or may not be more detailed than the manual you process.

If you have a manual and know how to "hand jam", You can do an Eprom reset!........ Just power down the system, connect a jumper from pgm1 to zone1 and apply power for about 10 seconds. If the installers lockout was not enabled then all programming should go back to factory defaults. If lockout WAS enabled......YOUR HOOPED! Be aware that performing an eprom reset with lockout enabled can also mess up the current programming so..I guess this procedure would be a last resort.
