I've been living here 3 years & this comes & goes

Finally started reading thru some of the threads here
Then read some of the links & remembered a filter that was installed at my wife's condo. Saw the filter the other day while cleaning out the basement

Went & installed & it & BINGO!! The problem was gone!!
As was my Internet access :(
Moved the filter off the main connection (includes Internet) & to the secondary. Problem gone, Internet access back

Thank you!!!

As an explanation - I had multiple lines of interference on the screen on Ch2 & Ch4
Almost fuzzy - and there was a noise - very low but audible when on either channel

I've had a couple service calls like this and traced it back to electric blankets/heating pads, things of that nature. Sounds weird I know, but just a suggestion.

Not sure what it could be. Maybe your TV cable (RG-5 or 6 non-quad) has interferance from not being insulated from circuit wiring. How many TV jack do you have in your home?

It's gone again

No heating pads or electric blankets
Doesn't correspond to anything I can think of that is on when this happens
The cable runs do need to be re-run, underground conduit has been run
There are too many splitters too

One outside, one inside - splits to 3 way
1 for internet - 3.5db
1 for master bedroom - 7 db
1 for main room - 7db
....main room feed splits at a double splitter -3.5db
............then behind TV goes to a 3-way splitter, labeled 5-90 mHz

The outside splitter is no longer grounded since the SF feed was buried, meter replaced & new grounding rods

The 1st 2 splitters in the basement are grounded - only to a water pipe

The splitter behind the TV is not grounded

It went away again
I'll have to start tracking this when it happens
See if there is a pattern
OFF:
Washing machine, dryer, dehumidifier, all Flourescent lights, stove, microwave, No fans running....strange

I do have power compact lights all over
I also have a (3) 250w MH light for fish tank. But it's on for 8 hours at a time.
One light go off at 5pm, 2nd at 9pm. Another stays on until 11pm - midnite

You may want to check with a neighbor. Perhaps its not just your house that has the problem. I see similar things on my ch 4 (and I have a local chan 4 broadcast that could interfere). But its funky interference that comes and goes ( a random black line, a pop or click) and doesn't appear to be interference from RF leakage into the cable at the same frequency. I've just assumed its the source signal, as I can't correlate it with anything I do.

If you have DSL then this may be the problem!?

We have Comcast cable - they just bought out Adelphia here
It's so infrequent as to not really be a pain
But it seems like every time there is a good show on 4 it crops up

I'll be watching the clock now to see if it crops up at a specific time
But we don't watch Ch4 all that much

I'll check with the neighbors too
Thanks

If your neighbors are having the same problem - then there is a distribution problem. If this is the case it could be many things -ie broken sheath on hardline cable, breakdown of Ac or Dc circuitry in the amplifier feeding you just to name a few.
It could also be coming from a cracked insulator on the Power Company equiptment and getting into the cable.

If your neighbors cable service is ok -then you may have a bad connector on one of the fittings on the service to your or a break in the coaxe at your house.

The easiest way is call Comcast - here in PA Comcast doesn't charge for service call and they will repair or isolate the problem.
