unread thread markings

It says I last visted on Oct 4 yet threads from Oct 2 still show as unread. Other sites I visit using this same software reset unread to last visit time.

Has the thread been posted to since last visit ? I believe it may show threads that has had new posts since last visit.

I've noticed that the unread thread thing has been buggy for a year or more. There seems to be no pattern to it that I can tell. In particular, the icon to the left of the forum area will still show orange (like I have unread threads in that forum area), when in fact I already read all those threads. It's no big deal, really. It just screws with your head a little.

What MD siad exactly. Threads that I am last poster on will show as unread. The only thing that sets it proper is if I hit the "mark all threads read" button as the last thing before I leave the site.

I have had it where someone else posted while I was reading or posting.. It will flag it as unread to indicate you may have missed a post while you were busy. I dont call that bad thing...

If I read the new threads by using the "new threads" button, it will not flag them as read until I go into each forum area and read them there again. Either that, or choose, 'mark all threads read'. It has been this way for a year or better. Maybe even longer. It is not just this site. It seems to be everyone who runs vB.
